Salt and Vinegar

seen them cheaper I've not found either to work well on larger weeds. Geoff's weed gun and Kate's boiling water are far more effective, although perennial weeds will come back. Vinegar definitely works, I used it at the allotment last week - got by Daintiness

plant id please

seedlings are little light green ferny things. whoops These are not Cornflowers. Annual Cornflower has a slim silvery green leaf. Perennial Cornflower has a wider leaf. look like weeds to me sorry! the leave are long and slim on cornflowers. See I think I by joslow

will know Don't rotovate, it will break up the perennial weeds roots and you will get more weeds. In spring when evrything starts regrowing spray it all with glyphosphate, as Nutcutlet says. Horsetail will probably need doing more than once. One of the NHS by George Aurther

will let u no I would probably say just go for a thick layer of bark as this will massively reduce the number of weeds by itself and in my experience beds with membranes can become a real pain as the plants mature especially if you're planting perennials by Wildflower2

Plant without papers

Can anyone identify this plant/weed? Heliotrope????? @ Kate1123, similar leaves and colouring. That picture was taken about two weeks ago now. The plants has doubled in height and breadth, almost occluded the growing space of the focglove behind by Gavin

Weeds in compost bin?

could be waiting a jolly long time for a compost bin to heat up...and besides, most bins are just too small and skinny to generate an internal heat. I may put the odd annual weed in the compost but never a perennial. The "secret" of heat in the compost by LavenderLois

soil. Yeah, perhaps I should've been more specific - ground cover is great if your problem is with annual weeds. If its perennials, you actually make life harder, because you can't spray them or dig them up easily. Get rid of them first with a herbicide by lucky3
