potatoes for the first time? i planted them in a potato sack the way they told us in the gardeners book,all i want to know is when do you know when to pick the crop,please help. I am growing potatoes on patio in a pot and they are growing rapidly,about 2ft6 by ben middlemiss 14

my carrots, I,ll just have to wait and see.Lu. It's true - carrot fly cannot reach above about 18 ins but most important, when thinning or picking carrots try not to disturb the foliage too much and NEVER leave a bit of leaf laying on the ground by nigelpoole

the raw berries, children who have seen parents picking brambles which are abundant in our area probably think all berries can be picked and eaten, we also have hazel pears, cob nuts and elderberry which are regularly picked, to kids it is one more edible by p8ssi0n

scale insects
cheekymonkey68, ladybirds and birds are the best and cheapest way to get rid of scale insects. The outer shell usually protects the scale insect from insecticides, so there's no point in spraying (this could also harm other wildlife). You can pick the insects by cheekymonkey68

Writing a Name on a pumpkin
he want to come to the allotment to pick some vegetables for his dinner (worried nothing will still be growing - but thats another thread) As his pumpkins didn't survive I thought i would give him one of mine and then thought it would be extra special by Sparklepinksunflower
