Red Filbert
filberts but don't know when to harvest them or what to do with them after harvest. I imagine the colour change with the leaves is due to autumn and nothing to worry about. Pick the nuts when the husks are hard, and dry them somewhere warm-ish, sunny by skywoman

Plant books
is good and often available. The RHS What plant where, and also What plant when are two good reference books - small handy size, colour picks and organised into colour, season or ideal planting location. Justin Amazon is your best bet - you can pick up by Compost fingers

Fungus on peas
themselves are, thus far, unaffected.  I expect that the cropping will be shorter than usual, and intend to pick and then freeze the surplus rather than let the crop be ruined.  (A bit of a shame really, since the sweetness of fresh peas is beyond anything by Shrinking Violet

Damson Crop for 2012
Hi Has it been a good or bad year for Damsons this year weather-wise etc? I am located in the East Midlands. I was sure they were ready earlier than this last year? When would I be looking to pick them (for my gin making!) Many Thanks in advance by Linsay

Saving tom seeds...
I want to save some tom seeds from a few different varieties. When is the best time to pick the toms for saving the seeds. Do they need to be ripe or can seeds be saved from green toms.   I have only saved them from reasonably ripe (red) tomatoes by Zoomer44

Bay tree
My bay tree is 4 feet high and I keep it in a large pot. Over the past two weeks I have picked off dozens of leaves that have turned dark brown. In many cases the leaves turn colour at the tip end whilst the rest of the leaf is still bright green by Yorkie in Exile
