Why won't my Oullins Gage fruit?
and bone and mulched around the base with home made compost each autumn to improve the soil. It looks vera healthy so I don't know why it won't fruit.  Is it still too young or have I picked a temperamental variety? Any advice is welcome. Thank you! by Squeaky73

Help
not have thought that being picked up by a human was more detrimental than being picked up by a cat. Maud, if you wet your hands before picking frogs up it is supposed to be better than using warm dry hands. I'm not a frog so can't speak from experience! by Maud is in the garden

then it will produce long tough stalks and go to seed so you dig it up. Keep picking and eating while it's edible - when it goes to seed dig it up and sow some more - wonderful stuff. I agree Dove - still picking mine ! Sorry forgott to say I grow Bright Lights by CottageGardenFairy

is the right way. thank you for any help... I grow gooseberries as standards with an open framework to increase air flow but it also enables me to pick from underneath and reduce damaging my hands. I use prunings to protect bare soil from cats. I usually puree by Christine Williams

Possible to sow more peas and beans
Lesley Don't know about broad beans never grown them. Regarding peas I pick mine when the pods have swelled out and feel firm, but I don't leave them on the plant long because the smaller peas taste better in my opinion. I don't think it's too late to sow by lesinnl

well and the ground compacted around the roots to prevent the plants being blown over in the winter gales. You will be picking the tender shoots early next year when greens are at a premium, mmm tasty lightly steamed but they don't stay purple when by Pam
