lily beetle
I am planning my garden for the season.In the previous two seasons my garden has been plagued by lily beetle,my crown imperials were attacked and all my lilys.I have read that spraying sunflower oil on plants will help.Does anybody have any advise by sal3

that Ivy attracts ants,espcially red ants and that Penny Royal is a good deterant?? I have millions of ants both outside and inside. they undermine my veg garden and Inside i have slight succes by using lavender oil in the floor wash. In the garden only by kaycurtis

on the fresh wound.Lovely.Thanks for all your tips above, I will be getting out there with the salt, any moment now... Eat the dandelions, don't kill them! These plants are one of the first flowers in spring and the bees love them. The flowers are also edible by PamelaJ

Oh no, lily beetles are back!
Hi all, I finally managed to get 8 rows of potatoes planted this evening (it has been too wet in the East Midlands to do heavy work on my clay soil for the last month), so decided to have a look at how my lilies (in pots) were doing before the light by BobTheGardener

There's a new beetle on the block, or should I say lavender plant. Its shiny black with stripes ranging from pale orange to dark red, about the size of a ladybird, could be mistaken for one i guess, except its unusual colours. Did check out by Excited finder

? If you get nothing, you can eat the leaves in salads. Good tip, Alina. I blanch the stems for about 30 seconds, then the leaves for about 10 seconds, drain and dry them them very well, toss them with some nice vinegar, extra virgin olive oil, and P by Bettyslad

Frost damaged Ivy
Caster Oil plant which is planted in front of the Ivy has also died.  I really do hope the ivy is not dead as it is is so well established will take a long time to grow another one.    Hi all you can do is to cut off the brown leaves and hope that new by Lavender Lady
