Dahlias

Rambling roses
Can I plant a rambling rose to grow up a fir tree or is the environment too acid?  Have many fir trees and want to make them a little more interesting. ....you can plant one, but it's whether you'll want to spend the time tieing the rose to the tree by gadrury

produce a more prostrate plant? Is it too late to do this now? As far as I know, you cut out the flowered stems and let the new ones replace them. They don't normally lean unless they're going to the light, so I would be inclined to support them straight by Tim Burr

Davie-S I'd just be inclined to keep tying the shoots in to their supports, rather than risk accidentally removing potential flowering shoots in error- well quite likely in my case! Clematis are greedy plants, so keep them well mulched, if in the ground by Percy-Grower

Controling Pumpkins
How do I stop my pumkins from taking over my plot and even the next door one. Do I cut the runners down or just direct them where I want to go? Steer them where you want them to go or grow them up supports, or both  Some people find growing them by IMDF

to see what you are actually getting.Forget the green roof, most sheds are flimsy things and would not support the weight without some solid support posts to hold the soil water and plants, you would need build a substantial frame off the shed itself by RubyLeaf

raspberry canes
recent introductions for summer and autumn fruiters-someone will recommend. Thank you for your advice - I will try Autumn Bliss and I believe Glencove is anbother reliable fruiter. I planted autumn fruiting 'Polka' last year. They don't need a support by lorrainespooner

cucumber and toms
hi, im new to some veg and salad growing so here goes, iv grown some tom and cucumber plants from seed very well too, they are now 4 or 5 inches tall and have 3 or 4 leaves, what i wanted to know is how big do they need to be before i plant them by jen wooler
