Daffodils
as they finish flowering, foliage and all.  The roots don't finish doing their work until some time after the foliage has died back. My query is very different.  Over the years I have planted many daffodils and tulips, but few have came back after the first year by Alan 4

Colour!
so I have lost the plot so to speak. I also like blue and yellow together. All in all I try to plant close together/overplant so that they hit of colour is exagerrated. I grow quite a lot in tubs e.g Gazanias, Pansies, Dahlias, Tulips. Alliums, and I by artjak

Colourful plants to put in large plant pots/urns
of bulbs, some planted deep and some shallow, I think the principle was; large = deep and small= shallow. That first winter I had lovely white cyclamen but they all rotted, it was v. cold. The tulips in the pots are just coming through now, there is also by Dave's beds

Design Part of My Garden
it will be an ornamental feature in my garden. I have placed it in partial shade (morning sun only) and intend to plant it with alpines so I have put in a 50/50 grit compost mix. Now, please suggest how it should be planted and I wiplaster which suggestions I like the best by saltski

/between trees? Your advice would be most appreciated. My Dad keeps saying that we should make it a lay down hedge, but the trees are far too established and tall for this option. Many thanks Woodland plants like foxgloves, ferns, epimediums, bulbs like anemones by Loopster
