Tulip bulbs in pots
them dry off thoroughly, then store somewhere like a dry shed, hanging in nets (mice love them). You can re-plant into pots or the garden but, if the tulips that you grew were fancy ones, the chances are that you won't get many flowers next year by Flower girl2

When to plant spring bulbs
I know its about the time to plant them.  I have some aliums and tulips, but with the weird weather we have had everything seems very late in flowering, so I have summer flowers, like geraniums, gazanias, coleus where I want the bulbs by ClaireCat

Hungry Deer
A peckish roe deer has recently started munching on my plants - it started with my pansies in the autumn, and I found to my horror this morning that it has taken the tops off my tulips which were almost 4 inches above the soil and had another go by Penny 2

for the spring when most of the jobs in the garden are clearing up ones! Thanks happymarion. You should be able to create a lovely display next spring with your tulips, but do try some planting combinations with other things too. Yes, Adam, I have ordered 100 T by sheddy

Tulips
flowering, so make sure you plant them somewhere sunny-ish or it could affect flowering rates. Tulips hate to sit in freezing wet soil and will also rot over winter, which might explain you loses some years. So plant with lots of grit to keep them coming up by danny250582

Leaving tulips in the ground
winter.  If they look manky I toss them nthe compost bin.  Perhaps that's why I have some interesting tulips flowering in odd places in the garden this year, adding welcome and unexpected splash of colour. Hyacinths get planted anywhere not too wet (I by Charlie November

't grow, was the pot too shallow at 8 inches? Strangely they seem to be putting up shoots this year. I am new to tulip planting, and have put them into pots which are currently kept under my carport. It is light and protects from any frosts. My question is by kathleenc
