Talkback: Planting spring bulbs
bulb with a maximum height of 40 cm ? I live in Belgium so it can be a lite bit colder here than in the UK. Bees sleep in crocus flowers? That is so cool! I'm planting loads of tulips this year. I'm planting the bulbs in pots with daffs planted on top by hayinwood

I have a front garden border with tulips which were planted in the winter. They came up a few weeks ago and were a loverly display. Earlier this week two of them had there flowers 'snipped' off about 2 inches below the petals. Now there are 4 by bcosergio

Daffodil and Tulip Bulbs
the tulips out as soon as flowering is over and let them dry off, plant them later in the year. Daffodils should be left in the pots until the leaves have died down completely, then get them out promptly as they will start to grow roots again in no time. All by Zakattak

Daffodils and Tulips - what to do as they fade?
Hello there, as an amateur gardener living in a basement flat with a patio/courtyard I am limited for choice with planting. I planted some bulbs in February and they have flowered beautifully mostly getting sun on top of my shed!   Now by LeeSW1

Front garden re-design
has reduced the amount of flower beds by putting sleepers in and then gravelling the centre section, which is much better and should be easier to manage.  Since this photo I have put a few pots on the gravel with winter pansies and viola, and tulips by mazzycheshire

daffodils and tulips
Hi there, Can daffodils be dead headed after flowering or is it best to leave them the standard to months until they die back naturally?  Is it the same for tulips? Deadheading is meant to stop the plants producing seed, so energy is diverted by PHILTHEBRILL

Talkback: Cuckoo flower
To me it is always ladies' smock, food-plant of the orange-tip. It wasn't particularly subtle, but last night when I was scarifying the grass before the expected rain came, a robin and a pair of blackbirds took grave exception to my being in 'their by Richard Jones

Chicken resistant plants
pain. Also seem to be ignoring all the roses and spring bulbs - daffodils, tulips, snowdrops, aconites all ignored to date. Yay, I love Hellebores and have been desperate to plant some but have held off in case they get eaten, just out of interest what by morbidia

Minimum planter size for black bamboo
Hello,  I've just bought some large, contemporary trough planters in which to plant phyllostachys nigra (black bamboo). They measure 98cm(L) x 33cm(D) x 33cm(W) (3 ft x 1ft x 1ft) and have straight sides. However, I'm a little concerned by KatieC
