Plum Tree Thing
cherry gets these. I think they may be known as pocket plums.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taphrina_pruni I've always assumed mine is Taphrina padi because it's on Prunus padus. by Scott B McDowall

Hedgerow shrub - what is it ??
- it is in Berkshire. ..I think it's a wild plum - prunus domestica.. These tiny pics blackthorn is out now so probably that. Is it prickly? Other possibilities are wild plum, bullace etc but they've probably finished flowering Will get out of the car again tomorrow by chicky

What tree is this?
Hello, I've recently bought a property with a large mature tree in the front garden. It looks like it's about to blossom but I have no idea what it is. Anybody have any ideas? Many thanks! Jbeaver     my guess a plum or a cherry. Google image by jbeaver

dark leaved evergreen shrub needed
It's a verry shallow border, bordering plum slate. Raised flower bed one side, small buddleja the other and a dwarf apple tree. Pretty good soil - heavy clay mixed in with lots of well-rotted stuff, so very free draining and rich. Just been mulched by Jess is in the Garden

Talkback: A plumb job
floods! Sam, please do send us a picture to gwletters@bbc.co.uk as we'd all like to see this. If it is true, I'm at a loss to explain this. Plums belong to the genus Prunus while apples belong to Malus, and while both are members of the family Rosaceae by Dawn Hambleton

Talkback: Trees for small gardens
. will any small trees like my courtyard or will they give up the ghost and stop growing when they try to get their roots under the concrete? I am very keen to try the Prunus autumnalis for its dappled shade or possibly an amelanchier. I would love some by McNumps
