I have a bed at the back of my garden with paper and a tall country garden yellow flower growing and it looked lovely until the poppies came into flower. They are all floppy - and not just since the windy weather started- and I am so close just by frustrated_gardener

Talkback: Growing ornamental poppies
I did not know you could shear back ornamental poppies and maybe get a few flowers later on! Will give this a go this year! No mention of how to get these plants. Do I wait until summer and buy from a garden centre, or can I grow them from seed by Patricia16

Black Poppies
HI i have black poppy seeds when do i sow in pots If these are the very dark purple annual ones with grey green leaves I'd wait til it gets warmer and sow them straight into the garden. They don't like being transplanted.   I know that conventional by jamesburke

Watched GW the other week and saw Monty Don simply broadcasting last years poppy seeds into the borders. No preperation (other than the mulch he put down early in the season) and seeds werent covered. Just left to get on with it. Does this really by Tim Burr

Sowing Poppy Seeds
Hi Everyone, I want to grow some Poppies over my tulips when the die back.  Do I just scrape back the composted bark, sprinkle the seeds and replace the bark?  On Friday's GW, Monty just threw seeds into the Jewel Garden on top of the compost by Yvieh
