Talkback: Potato blight and Bordeaux Mixture
. Agree there are other potatoes I like more flavour-wise. Bristol has been bad for blight recently so i am trying some resistant varieties but also growing more earlies and making dinners to freeze with them so I can still have their taste even past by Green Horn

I believe (i could be wrong as fairly new to this myself) that manuring is very good, in the previous automn or late winter, not directly before you plant the potatoes. If you haven't had the time for this then use some compost/chicken pellets mix by isedarken

.Cheaper than buying pots ( can be re-used ). I don't know about growing organic potatoes in plastic bags. There is some evidence that rubber and plastics leach chemicals into soil. Hoses, made of PVC (though it is not well known in the US) leach lead by markpete

Is it blight
The bottoms of my potato hulms have leaves with black patches ansome of gone yellow, the tops of the plants are still in flower and look pretty healthy is this blight and should I cut the hulms off? I don't grow potatoes anymore because by stapler

is they don't care and wouldn't even give any advice, any advice would be appreiciated. I think you are being a bit unfair to T&M to be honest- walk round any garden centre now and you will see seed potatoes for sale-if they have them in,they will send them by alfiemoon
