Gardeners told 'wash off compost'
as there are new gardeners coming along.  Bit like the 'can you eat the tomatoes you get on the potato plants' question, but still, better to ask about it than get sick I think. by yarrow2

New garden, new area, growing problems
My wife and I have recently moved to South Somerset.  We have planted various veg plants, but have come up against problems.  For instance, with potatoes, the plants have grown on top, even flowering first early spuds, but there are no tubers by Dudley Horler

pruning damaged plants in wet conditions?
 tall growing veg like pea's were were damaged with the wind over the last few days, beans were blown off their supports. Foilage on my potato plants has also been snapped off too.   I'm in Lancahire and have removed all damaged stems. On the fruit bushes I by nadiamaz

Seed buying
for the first time,  extea work but a big saving if it works as I'm looking to grow 300 plus as we use so many. Always try new varieties of seed potatoes but hang on to one or two that I have done well with before (Pentland Javelin has been  consistant over by Kate Bradbury

Raised asparagus bed
on about an inch of spent compst from soem potatoes grown in bags last year so I might just add a bag of manure now to feed it and then top it up again in autumn when I cut down the ferns. by gerrya

can you have too much night
of sanday just north of orkney, I have tried talking to some of the people I have met but most don't have a poly-tunnel so because of the regular bouts of wind stick to growing potatoes leeks cabbage carrots cauliflower broccoli. I brought with me a 60 foot by natures grafter

Infill for raised beds
of soil required overall. The trouble is that you might change your mind about what you want to grow - for instance decide to grow a crop of new potatoes or parsnips. I've assumed that bigMAL's site is essentially reasonably drained, so I'd go for all soil by BigMAL

Painting a trellis...
on the trellis so could easily be untwined. There's a potato plant whose branches can't be untwined but me thought it would be ok if these got a little wood stain on. I'm happy to prune the Lavatera down, it's a rigourous plant and will survive a sever pruning by Zoomer44
