Home-made compost
for potatoes, I made 2 of my plots into raised beds and topped them up with 6" of Mel Bartholomew's mix from his 'Square Foot Gardening' book - I used a1/3 coir (instead of peat), 1/3 vermiculite and 1/3 my own compost with added 'Nugro' from Fertile Fibre by Pamela Croft

no apples!
out much, and I think the later apples probably just didn't get pollinated. I'm in Shropshire, I have two apples and one pear.......however, I have more strawberries than I can eat ! Thats another price hike at the supermarkets then and potatoes I bet by jo taylor2

Back garden Chickens
can be dangerous for their feet (thorns)  Eggs fresh from the hen are so different from shop ones.  There is the cost of something for them to sleep in. You can buy chicken feed but they will eat all your leftover bread, potatoes,rice and lettuces by Eric Winterburn

Gardens for Dogs

end of an old spade handle I also find useful for holes for potatoes or leek planting or planting bulbs.  But when my small fork and trowel were lifted from the garden recently I could not wait to beg, borrow "not steal" them from friends by Kate Bradbury

My dream garden
products and potatoes - was how changeable and varied our weather is. Being over there was like groundhog day.  And I may have seen 15 plants the whole year. Not in a rush to go back to that town! FloBear wrote (see) That sounds like 1976 ;- ) I remember by sotongeoff

Growing Lillies in containers
up as they grow -like earthing up potatoes As they are small bulbs-all the same?-put them in a container say 8 inches in diameter should they be able to see light. i.e dont cover them completely and do i grow indoors? No -they are hardy-need to grow by David 25

How To Start Veg Growing
