, I don't like cats or the mess they leave, but laser guns, spikes on fences, get a grip, or better still a springer spaniel. Birds in poor condition because they lack nutrition are far more vulnerable to predation by cats, keep feeding, especially by Harry Hilly

a lot of damage unless they're in serious numbers. There's also a tiny wasp predator called Encarsia Formosa which you can buy.  The problem with using predators like these is the cost (they don't come cheap) and there is always a minimum temperature by COGIE

Lady birds
Has anyone got ladybirds,lots of Green fly no Ladybirds to eat them.I am an organic gardener relying on predators to keep pess in check. My garden also is light on ladybirds at the moment even though I had loads hibernating in early spring. My roses by paul@chandbrush.plus

need to keep it trimmed or it grows very thick very quickly - blossoms in spring for nectar, berries in autumn for bird food and thorns all year to make it a safe haven for small birds hodong from predators and keep unwanted people out of the garden by Nick Hays

Primula - growing from seed
.  Ideally they should be winter chilled, so I have sown them in pots in winter and covered them with a tile to stop predating mice etc., and then lifted the tile off in February and brought them into a cold greenhouse to germinate, spraying occasionally by nikki 7
