Talkback: Homes for wildlife
your frog, it's very unlikely that it would have died from winterkill so early. Is it easy to get in and out of the pond? Was it harmed - could it have been attacked by a predator? I don't want to alarm you, but if you find more dead/lethargic frogs by i grown my own

of lots of different species, genuses and families of plants which in their turn will attract lots of different insects, whether predators or beneficial. It means the plants have a greater chance of survival because a disease like a virus will not spread by Wildman of Pershore

it in as a green manure so not all is lost, if something really doesent do well or fails altogether then i try something else or a different place...i think by keeping such a mix of things it works and the predators have hiding places to attack the bugs by southwickman

baffled by strawbs and a mystery plant
for birds ans slugs to do the dirty work first then move in-they are the hyenas of the insect world- a secondary predator if you like They eat plant debris and such like- so are quite useful in that sense-not really a pest- more of a nuisance.  woodlice by Mizz

Hissing Bees??
to be a bees nest - but then I am convinced  I read an article which described a bees nest 'hissing' to warn away predators such as mice if they enter their underground nest. My other thought was that it could be mammalian i.e. rat which would concern me by Daniel Smith2

Will anything benefit from these old pipes?

Suggestions for a South-facing wall
there (a cloud of cherry blossom would look lovely in that spot), but I am slightly put off by the idea of having to net the cherries against birds (I live in London). There is a mulberry tree in the garden which long predates my arrival, and the birds seem by Hogroast2

Moving Garlic On
'm not sure if they have any 'predators' I get a lot of birds in my garden, big ones, wood pigeons and pheasants will they pull them up? I can put them in my fruit cage with fruit bushes and shallots if that will be better. Just looking for a little advice by saltski

the snails been predated or have they just died? Garlic wash has not worked for me.Tried it full strength and watered down and even tried it on the snails that were resting or traversing over the copper tape!!Please, please...is there not a scientist or a by ginjosie
