onions
. Just pop the onion bulbs in the ground about 6inchs or so apart either just cover the tops or leave alittle bit poking out, protect from birds though. Water well and wait. Onions are easy to grow as long as you keep them weed free as they don't like by Edentoy

Peach curl
Hello I've got a dwarf nectarine in a large pot. Well protected from the elements in a sunny spot in a corner of my courtyard. Last year was its first year and it flowered but did not fruit. This year it flowered and I was most excited to see by Cathryn65

propagator as soon as most of the seedlings have emerged from the compost or they will get leggy. I usually put another propagator lid over them for a few more days just as a bit of added protection. Thankyou for your advise,my dwarf Dahlia seedlings by sal3

pruning
. You can cut back hardy geraniums quite hard earlier in the year and you'll get another flush of flowers, but this late in the season I'd leave the summer's growth to protect the crown of the plant over the winter. Doesn't make a lot of difference now by chainsawsal

blisters
, if it's a weed, best to wear long sleevs and gloves once you've identified the culprit.  If it's a treasured plant then consider protecting yourself or finding it a new home with friends or neighbours. by zebra

Torquay Palms
dangerous with high winds etc., Hi Niggycat, I've never grown any myself but am aware they need some protection from cold weather. Folk who grow them near me tie the fronds up and put a cover on them . This link is quite informative from the R.H.S. http by Niggycat

Young perennials/seedtrays in or out of greenhouse?
& snails!   I'm thinking of putting them in the unheated greenhouse now to over winter. They're getting so sodden all the time they don't look very healthy.  This will also give slug/snail protection.  Good idea or bad? Sounds like a great plan to me. I by Lokelani

Container
pottery or stone. I saw that about hessian and I wondered why as it will rot eventually. Is it insulating enough to protect a plant in winter? by Supernoodle
