Protecting plants from frost
just wondered what needs protection.  I have planted up a lot of pots with fuscias, lobelias etc and also have dahlias and sweet peas in the ground so should I be covering them in fleece everytime there is a frost? Many thanks for any advice! It has by Abby2

Hi Sandra, are you growing earlies or main crop? Generally if you had "earthed up" the potatoes then this should have protected the plants and they should recover without the need of support, also if you are growing earlies then I would have thought by val

chemicals in their cells which act as anti-freeze, whereas succulents from arid regions do not have such antifreeze so frost can kill them. Sempervivums and sedums will survive the winter here but things like aoniums and graptopetalums need some protection by happymarion

I have a green and a red cordoline I wrapped the green one up a couple of years ago it got too warm and rotted. I cut it back and it has grown again. How do I protect it from frost without it sweating and rotting again this year. I dont have a by Lily 2

What has eaten my Lupin - I need to protect the other 3
I have been out to the garden and found that something has eaten my Lupin.  Can anyone advise? I do want to protect the rest of the lupins from the same fate!   That would be snail damage -they climb up the stem-have had similar damage and caught by ANGIE DAWSON

Californian Poppies
I sowed some californian poppy seeds last month and I noticed yesterday that they've developed into little seedlings. Will these be ok to be left where they are throughout the winter or will I need to protect them? They'll need some fleece by Alice Konash
