Pruning Dogwood
Is it ok to prune my dogwood at this time of yea?, it's getting a bit too big ! I hard pruned my dogwood in early spring, this is the traditional time to prune it to ensure you get the coloured stems over winter. Sometimes I do a little 6 inch trim by fionaf

That depends-if you prune it now that will probably mean losing next years flowers-they are best pruned after flowering around May or so. So the choice is- do you lose a years flower and tame it now? Whatever you do they are the toughest of plants and respond by brizzmark

Clematis Pruning
, or should I cut right back (I believe it is prune code 3) and then remove all the shoots as they die back.  Seems a shame but might produce a stronger and healthier plant in Year 2, when I probably wouldn't need to prune quite so hard? If it's a 3 you should by lorrainespooner

Pear Pruning
I have a young conference  pear that I am fan training.     It has not bloomed yet but has made a lot of side shoot growth this year off all of the fanned branches.    I understand that these side shoots have to be pruned hard in order to encourage by Jimpy

Prune hydrangea
Some help please. In north cornwall we are snow free and a mild climate. This year one of my hydrangeas in still very green. Although last years flowers are dead the leaves are still green and looking very strong. Should i prune now( which by Janice Dunning

Pruning honeysuckle
I have 2 very healthy honeysuckles in my garden, both of which I planted. One is 2 years old and i have never pruned it back, but it has never flowered. The other was planted at the start of the season and has taken off really well and is flowering by frustrated_gardener

Clematis pruning
years old and don't think have ever beern pruned. We moved into this house a couple of years ago and now are ready to give serious time to the garden - especially the upper patio which is by the kitchen. In the autumn and winter when the clematis leaves by Mrs Jamps

pruning larches
does anyone know how to prune larches we have 3 lovely larches in our garden but they've got really tall and quite spindly. I wondered if we trimmed the side branches if it would encourage more bushy growth. also could we take the top off to limit by e1lise
