Aylesbury Prune
When we moved into our new house twenty years ago, there were three old plum trees at the bottom of the garden. They were the remnants of what were large orchards of what are called Aylesbury Prune trees in the village of Weston Turville by David Roberts2

When to prune
I keep a gardening calendar, where I add notes for each month's tasks as a yearly planner. I know lots of pruning needs to be done in March and as it's the 1st tomorrow, is it too early to start? I know a frost straight after pruning can damage by diggingdoris

Winter pruning
The time has come for us to prune our apples and pears, late-flowering clematis, gooseberries etc. It's a very satisfying job if you have a sharp saw and warm clothing. I've been having a go at some neglected apple trees on my veg plot and wondering by Emma Crawforth

Euphorbia pruning
a good rule with euphorbias was to prune after flowering unless you are happy to lose all this years flowers and run the risk of frost damage. My understanding is that they are quite tough but they still would not like frost in open wounds. Only you by chilli lover

Talkback: How to prune viburnums
It would be useful for nervous gardeners (like me) to have an idea of the names of plants that can be pruned in this fashion. by joseph_owen

should I prune pieris
The title says it all really. Should I prune a Pieris and if so when and how much? We never touch ours, and they are fine without pruning.  I suppose it depends if they are outgrowing their space. Thank you Chicky- I will leave it then. Bev - you by Bev Pounsett-Krynauw

Rose pruning and frost
This is probably a daft question, but when gardening mags and books say don't prune roses in time of frosts, what exactly do they mean? If there was a frost in the morning, but it's gone by lunchtime can you prune in the afternoon by Busy-Lizzie
