Pruning Sambucus in Autumn
I've had to repot my sambucus as the pot it was in was broken by workmen and in doing so , I noticed some stems had also been damaged due to the accident. It now looks rather lob-sided so I was wondering if I could give it a small prune now just by Jean Riley

Cloud pruning anyone?
I've decided to cloud prune my Snake Bark Maple. Partly because I was given it as a "small Japanese Acer" which is now about 10ft tall and just as wide, and partly because I'm having to play Rambo to get to one of the water butts and my spare pots by quercus_rubur

too scared to prune
want to you can leave it as it is for a  few years then cut it back (at this time of year) when it is  outgrowing its space. Don't worry, you won't kill it - and if you want to you can stick the prunings in the ground and they will all grow and you can by Sinevegas

Climbing Rose pruning
, there are a rather large amount of mature plants which have been left to grow and grow without any TLC. Which brings me to a climbing rose which is sited on a south facing fence. It has clearly had some pruning over the years, but this is a mature rose by Bobbydazzler

Talkback: Rose pruning
and it was a building site outside. So, we start from scratch and we're fairly clueless!! Anyway, please could someone advise how you effectively prune a climbing rose. I don't know whether to cut it back hard or just trim the tops, do I have to worry about by Gran_to_be_Ann
