Hard, bumpy lawn
Hi, I layed a new turf lawn in early May. It appears to be well established apart from the odd bald spot but it is very hard and uneven under foot. Any ideas on how to alleviate this or does it just need rain and a bit of forking? Thanks! by Jim B

Growing fennel bulbs...
This was the 2nd year trying to grow bulb fennel. The rain has suited because none of the plants have bolted, they look healthy but the bulbs  are still quite small, are they likely to get much bigger and when do you harvest. by Zoomer44

Self Watering system
I have been looking on the web for something that will allow me to attach a self watering drip hose to a rain water barrel to water my veggies whilst i'm on holiday. Does anyone have any experience of using something like this? by Phemaleflyer

Talkback: Rose bloom balling
rain about three weeks ago other than that my rose flowers do not get water on them & they are in a full sun area. The staining is due to rain, as is any balling that you get. Drier weather will solve the problem, although individual flowers will stay by cherrypip

Basil leaf damage
After having torrential rain for the last few days the basil in my windo box has developed some brown spots on the leaves and they are starting to fall, could this be caused by over watering? Yes there is good drainage.   I have noticed in the past by discodave

Poorly lawn
We have had so much rain here in Essex, ( ha ha drought!) and I have had a problem finding a dry spell to cut the lawn. I managed to do it yesterday as we had a dry morning for a change, but then I noticed these problems. We are on clay here by diggingdoris

Feeding potatoes in bags.
I was advised to feed my potatoes which are in bags. They are growing nicely and have reached the top of the bags. Due to all of the rain we have had , the compost is really wet so making it impossible to water any feed in. Should I be covering by Nidge

Talkback: A dry spring
Hi. Its hard to imagine your plight here, as it has rained quite more than average. Those lucky Scots are more like what we have here. Anyhow I am glad you find some alternate ways to keep things blooming. It helps me to feel grateful by wetty...
