bonfires
hard to compost, and make a neat pile in an open patch. Leave it for a week or so, then with a scrap of old newspaper, burn it and then rake the ashes around that  area. It provides pest control where the fire was, potash to spread around, cooks by peteballan

Mossy lawn
hadn't been raked up for years. The first thing we did was to improve the light by having the crowns of the trees expertly lifted and thinned.  The ivy covered fences fell down and have been replaced by fences with honeysuckle, roses and clematis by Les2

Talkback: How to make a garden shed tool rack
An excellent cheap and easy solution to the age old problem of storing your tools. It saves time finding an implement and more importantly can help you avoid the risk of you or anyone else treading on a rake head etc and causing an injury. SHEDShttp by brunehill

Drainage and new topsoil
checked cost of replacing new topsoil and its coming close to a grand. I'm thinking of ordering a bit and raking back the old topsoil to lower the costs. We will use lawn seeds. My questions are mainly on drainage: - Would I need to put down Pea gravel by Nina Matija

LAWN DAMAGE
better (or worse maybe). Many thanks. Did you water in grub killer after treatment. Did you try to stretch out treatment to go further thus diluting the chemical? It should have worked by now. The holes in the lawn will recover. I would rake the lawn by pinkpeony

A garden full a weeds!
in the soil. Then rake the dead weeds off, then dig or rotovate the plot. But  there are weeds like bindweed, if you rotovate be careful that the roots are removed beause if they are chopped up it will make more plants. Hiya mrgreengiant If you don't mind by Mrgreengiant

Bulrushes - a cunning plan
- or worse - overcompensated and nearly fallen headlong into the pond. The bulrushes are in one big dense mat, too huge to just pull out altogether, so I have a cunning plan to deal with them. I will carefully hook up a bit of it at the edge with a rake by Blueboots
