Poppy seed
coming up all along the tarmac path and in cracks of walls. What did I do wrong? Am I likely to get some next year instead? Poppies like disturbed soil, give the ground a good hard raking and see what happens. It might be too late for this year but it by lucky3

) you mow, get a besom or broom of some kind and 'sweep' the grass towards the long grass - any froglets will head for cover - at least that's what I did when we had this situation and it worked for us.  I use a sweeping technique too, with a lawn rake by Tim Burr

Ideas for new rented property
. It still belongs to him and he may not want the concrete washing line post dug up etc. If he doesn't, you may be able to grow a climber up it. If you want to dig the grass up to level the area it would then need rotovating, raking, treading, raking again by adejones

Best and worst
on antibiotics for 9 weeks, very nasty . Best: definitely planting and watching them grow. Worst: raking "tons" of leaves in Autumn and having to nag OH to trim the hedges! obelixx wrote (see) ....Hardest is finding time to sit and enjoy it ... I'm a bit more by Brumbull

Wasteland garden.....please help
area. I've made, if not a lawn then an area suitable for kids to play on, by just mowing. If you rake out the bumps, dig up the obvious nettles. You might have to strim or hover mow the rough stuff to start with. Then just regular mow. Stinging nettles by Justine Read

Make the most of the weather
on they will be settled.Collect a few packets of seed, cheap and cheerful but read the packet for outside planting, height and spread. Fill an old coke bottle with very dry sand mix in your seed then after raking over a patch of soil make a fancy pattern by slowly by Susan Pearman

to say without more information. If it was a Leylandii, personally I'd throw a party!   If the needles are on a lawn or something like that, I'd definitely rake them up or hoover them up with a blower.  I might put them down elsewhere in the garden as a by nanna26

Belts and Braces.
Im sorting out my early spring garden tidy and want to lay some blue slate ontop of 2 of my beds. I have weeded and raked the area and was seeking some advice on laying weed matting down and then the stone on top. Question - Is using both abit belts by Lawrence G

Poor Lawn.
? If possible I would mix in mushroom compost or similar too. Spend time getting it level by regular raking to get good tilth. And a general fertiliser a week,or so before seed sowing. If its not too big, lawn preparation is a very satisfying project. Can you by briffster
