with tall, deep red or coral flowers was, and indeed still is, one of my favourite flowers - we always call the flowers the 'firework flowers' as they leap up above everything else at this time of year.   I do not grow the multicoloured ones, but still try by derrick hammer

Flowering tree for shady spot
Any suggestions please for a flowering tree (cherry type or similar) for a shady spot?  We have a lightly wooded area at the back of our garden (beyond our fence) and would like to plant a specimen tree in front of it.  Max height about 8 metres x 5 by Nicky H

Talkback: Growing ornamental poppies
, how long will they take to flower?I was given some red oriential poppy seed last summer.I sowed the seed in a pot and some spindly seedling appeared. These have stood still over winter. Will they start into growth in spring, and when will they flower by Patricia16

Mystery flower
Hi, We've scattered a packet of mixed seeds on a patch of garden deisgned to attract insects and this flower has grown.  We have no idea what it is.  The plants have got about 2ft high in places.  The leaves and the steam are hairy and these flowers by FreeZ

Help identifying 2 shrubs
Can anyone identify these 2 shrubs please, I don't know how or when to prune.  (1) small pointed leaves which turn red later in the year, large clusters of tiny white buds which open to tiny bright yellow flowers. (2) copper branches and leaves by Sizeyuk1

Identifying a plant
/barren-strawberry.htm are what comes to mind - any good? I agree Potentilla, I have a yellow one, and a red one in my garden.  The red one is one of my all-time favourite plants in my garden, probably the favourite for flowers.  It is soft strawberry red, with a creamy yellow by katyou

What plant?
second from last a   vibernum  2 and 2a Ribes, Flowering  Currants as siad. 4 Viburnum davidii 1 could be a Lonicera nitida. Do wish the site would allow the pictures to display larger. I think that Vibunum is tinus. The last, the hebe could be Red Ace by Jye

with suckers. Has red flowers in spring(commonest colour) There are varieties in white and pink too. Thank you for your speedy response, I probably should have added that is has spines which until cut down were about 5cm long and has red flowers.  It also grows by mdw84

HELP
Help, I love these small red with black dotted centre, and yellow  with black dotted centre, flowers. they can trail or climb up a small trellis, they open when it gets light/dawn and close-up/go to sleep at dusk. please can any one help, by telling by Potterer!

Identifying climber
I bought this climber from a neighbour's garden I visited and I've forgotten what it is called. It has orange trumpet flowers, is pretty vigorous and the leaves are going a strong red colour with the change of season. See photos below. Thanks by lyndsayg
