kitchen windowsill now have this :( spider mites are an outdoor curse here in reno-the hot dry summers are perfect for them-soft evergreens(alberta spruce)can be killed in amatter of weeks-unfortunately people refuse to believe that they can be controlled by Valdel

pesky pests
Anybody out there who can help with advice about the problem of red-spider mites on house plants? One of my prized plants was killed stone dead in one infestation ( a 30 year old citrus shrub that I'd grown from a pip). Does anyone know of a by john cairns

Cucumber and Spider Mite, Still edible?
to eat.... They look OK.... what are your thoughts on this one? I would just peel them  Red Spider mites love hot dry air so if you grow cues again it would be a good idea to mist the plants with water regularly Pam LL x Thank you lilylouise! by Liz_noobe

outside. Sounds like red spider mite, Gina. If you mist the plants daily to increase humidity, the spiders should move on. More information here Kate The red spider mites I come across aren't white. They're also so tiny as to be almost invisible by ginagibbs

Help needed
noticed some ants running up and down the trunk today. Many Thanks Debbie If the webs are at the tips, it could be red spider mite, which is difficult to deal with.  The ants running up and down the trunk indicate there are aphids - ants feed off by Deblou2

Mites in seeds
as a way to kill house dust mites so mite (he hee) work and a lot of seeds can stand freezing.Just a thought. If they are red in colour I would say spider mites, if greyish, they could possibly be pollen mites Too tiny to be flea beetle I'd say, not red by Lokelani

. But, red spider mite/spruce mite, etc., do damage to juniper, picea causing needle drop but this damage is done in summer when weather is hot n dry. Wind burn too but conifers tend to brown off as they get taller anyway. Is it possible they are too by Wacheke
