Talkback: Growing tomatoes: dos and don'ts
South and gets very warm in Summer. Just have to keep up with the watering. my 1st time 2 years ago i brought 2 tomatoes beefeater and money maker put them in my front garden and my kids ate 1 each on the way to school lovely but last year all mine got by growing tomatoes

I have in my front garden a beautiful gleditsia which I have had for about 7 years . It has behaved impeccably until this year when it grew about 5 feet all over and the trunk thickened dramatically. The trouble is that I was told that it would only by caravan queen

good wildflowers for low Victorian garden wall?
in my garden, so will bear that in mind! Had you thought of native ferns? Sempervivums would probably do well - my sister grows them between the glazing bars and the glass on her greenhouse roof, so they really don't need much to get a foothold. And I by freshairfanatic

Planting seeds in the greenhouse
already sown a few (lobelia, cosmos, stocks) indoors and was wondering if they would be ok to be moved to a covered passage    way on the side of my house.  It has a perspex roof and is probably about 7 degs during the day.   Most seedlings grown indoors by Kirsty3

Encouraging bats in our gardens
We talk a lot on here about encouraging beneficial wildlife in our gardens but not a lot about bats.  Did you know a tiny pipistrelle can consume 3,000 midges in one night? We used to have a colony of about 30 when we moved here about 20 years ago by obelixx

loser Today's bargain of echinacea plants was too good to miss for cutting!! They will go in the veg. garden to give some colour and flowers for the house, probably just a few this year but loads in future years. Sunflowers for my paintings are only by Maria

we havent seen house sparrows for the last five years, but this year the gardens full of the cheeky blighters, good to see them back. I love house sparrows to0, last year we had some nesting under the tiles on the edge of the roof. I've noticed more by john

garage roof! The BBg puts on lots of demonstrations throughout the year in Bristol and of course we are open to the public. i came home early today as I am getting my own front garden ready for the Bristol in Bloom competition and givinga talk by InsaniD
