which plants would be best?
Hi there im new to this, i was wondering if anyone would give advise on which plants suit a clay soil as most of my garden is full of clay like soil, ive been told roses are meant to be good but i ideally want plants that are low and wide spreading by chellie

Hellebore varieties - suggestions please

Lavender
, such as hellerborus niger with  flowers on tall 6" stems, and you think they must be a new strain. when they flower the following spring they are just like ordinary Christmas roses. It's deceitful trickery by the horticultural trade.   I bought a lavender last year by frustrated_gardener

grafted - probably - and the rest of the tree was 'infertile' or something (sorry to be so ignorant, but like roses are grafted onto vigourous stock but you dont want that to emerge and take over..) This year there was one sorry looking flower and I didn by greengirl2

Clematis Rhapsody

metres by 1 metre (slate covered), and the troughs put anywhere where there is room. Its a wonderful year for climbing roses and passion flowers. Our dahlias aren't doing too badly either.   Its the weeds that get me everytime.  They're very prolific by H7

the same family - gave rise to the earlier idea that tomatoes were poisonous? There was a chef to one of the kings, can't remember which one, who put tomatoes in a stew to kill the king, ran for his life, but of course the king had a lovely supper and rose by TheSloth

Feathers in Compost?
from nettles , i spray it on everything as a preventative for insects and fungi and pour it on the roots as a  fertiliser.  I get good crops of fruit and veg.  but I still get black spot on roses and some years whitefly is a dreadful problem. by Sandra 2
