Harvesting potatoes

leaf damage to container plants
slugs or snails when foliage is being eaten-could I suggest a visit with a torch- and tonight would be good because it is damp- and you might catch something in the act.   i agree with sotongeoff by Katy12

Growing lupins
pots. You can also pour boiling water over the compost before using it to kill any insects and mould. I suggest trying again with the above. They produce loads of seeds and self seed well. Ruby, I love lupins but so do the snails, you can bring them by RubyLeaf

the obvious-probably slugs or snails-it gets boring to blame the same culprit all the time but it usually is Have you taken any precautions? I agree, slugs are the most obvious and probable culprit here - the weather had been damp encouring their numbers by SueHufton

when the damage happens, I've just noticed it over the last couple of weeks, if it's any help the same is happening to the delphiniums nearby. Delphiniums and dahlias are probably slugs and snails favourite snacks, so double-check for them.  They don by mdw84

Broken top tomato

& reduction in average temperatures. Yes if you suspect rust then removing those leaves is a good idea- dont compost, bin them. I'd expect it to resume growing again next Spring as normal & flower next year. IME slugs & snails love it, so protection by diana dani`els

and worms that came my way,I thought this is where I could get rid of my snails and slugs from home,painless and gone in instant ,when I picked up what I thought was a juicy fat worm for the hens (who were looking with interest) but this was no worm it slid by flowering rose
