I have just created new beds for growing fruit and vegetables and the top soil that I hto ordered is extremely alkaline ,what is the best way of improving it.. My existing soil is neutral to alkaline Have you done a ph test on the soil?-if so what by annefiona

Clayey soil
please help i have diffent veg plants growing but i have clay soil in my garden what can i plant out into it. thank you   The best thing to do with clay soil is to improve it by adding grit, sharp sand and compost (any type), as clay is inherently by METAL MAN GARDENER

Soil disposal
Hi guys, I'm planning on digging up some large areas that are full of weeds and dead plants. What shall I do with all the soil that I dig up? Can I compost it or will the weeds continue to grow? Cheers Jo I would make a turf stack, cover by Jo Stephenson

Problem soil
of excavated soil and small rubble, all of which is underlain with a heavy clay.  The contractor did try and plant the beds witha shrub, but in the time since the development took place the shrubs have barely grown, leaving the beds looking very unloved by Justin Vivian

SOIL
IS SAWDUST ANY GOOD FOR PUTTING OVER YOUR GARDEN It'll add to the organic content of the soil, but it has no food value. If anything, it'll take a bit of nitrogen out of the soil as it breaks down, so it might be an idea to add a sprinkle by doris2

Potato blight soil
Hello there, one of my potato sacks has unfortunatly suffered from the dreaded blight... i was just wondering what to do with the soil and compost that is in the sack, is it still safe to grow other fruit and veg in there like a broccoli or even a by Pondman

I need help with what plants to choose. each year I spend a fortune just for the slugs to eat, or for them to die because soil is bad I need to know what plants I can buy that will survive both problems Maybe you might consider trying to improve by jackie williams
