Soil Problem
died. I have ordered a soil testing kit to see what type of soil I have. But what on earth is going on with the soil? I've never known anythiing like it! Can anybody help? It is the only border which has problems.   I should point out that a couple by Kerry Ward

I want to plant up a wall trough for the winter using Pieris and heathers plus  non acid loving plants. My question is will the non acid loving plants thrive in the ericacious soil that I will need to use for the pieris or will they suffer? look by spring Jean

Soil ph
Does anyone have an organic solution for lowering the ph of my veg plot ? My test kit is showing a reading of 8 and the suggestion on the packet is 'sulphur of ammonia' which sounds a bit strong. Many thanks in anticipation. When I did a soil test by Ivyhouse

SOIL DEFICIENCY?
I am a new gardner . I have dug well rotted manure into my beds and I feed as instructed with miracle grow.  My soil is neutral ph. Plants I grow in containers do fine but when planted in the garden my flowering shrubs get few flowers  , if any by LYNNE 6

Compacted Soil
I have been doing some hardcore gardening today, clearing back some overgrown shrubs/trees, etc and when I have tried to dig over the soil which was under these bushes, it is very hard and compacted and riddled with roots,etc.  What is the easiest by Christine Bethell

i have pruned my leylandii back and have a lot of cuttings i do not have a compost bin but was wondering  as i am making raised beds can i place them at the bottom and put my soil on top for nutrients .  thanks Emma Crawforth wrote (see) Hello by rubbersoul

In my allotment there is one patch of soil approx 20ft x 15ft that is infested by  small worm like things that are about 1/4 to 3/8 inch long silvery grey in colour and about a milimetre wide, when resting they coil up like a spring. All winter I by Colin Atkinson
