Daffodils suitable for heavy soil
Hi all, I'm new to Gardeners' World and this is my first question.   Can anyone recommend a daffodil bulb that is suitable for heavy clay soil?  I have been told that if I put one in that is most like a wild daffodil that I have the best chance by Sarah M

Talkback: Wet soil
and flowers around the narrow patio border, which gets all the rain run off and doesn't seep away easily (boggy soil). Any ideas for suitable plants. Are there any that will drink up this excess water? By the way I am a novice so don't answer too technically by antonihoe

Mysterious hole appearance in the soil.
A small deep hole about 7cm across has appeared in the soil in my garden. There is no evidence of a mole so I'm wondering what has been burying under the earth.  Has anyone any ideas? Might be a rat I'm afraid. Rat does seem te most likely. Or mouse by daydaisy

Low wall - straight onto soil?
Hi! I have sufficient old crazy paving slabs (ex council) to build a low wall, no more than 4 slabs high. This will act as the front of a rose bed and whilst it will do a limited amount of soil retaining, I am confident it won't need mortar by Barry Hayter

Plants for very wet Clay soils
I think a lot more information is required Kevin A lot depends on the size of your plot, Kevin. if you have room, you could plant a tree which will take up some of the water. The most important thing before you start is to improve the soil by Kevin Heritage
