the earth - your beans will race away from a late autumn start - and you can switch the cloches to protect and start off spring sowings of other plants once the beans are up and running around March. I have found Aquadulce do well from a direct sowing by mizzzy

A few random questions :)
work as this is a full time job in its self!!      To Phytographer...you say to sow more seeds with peas and beans, can I still do this because it says on the pack to sow till end of june. I do have spare seeds so could I  do them in the greenhouse by Loz

How long after lawn feed and weed killer can I plant things?
and lots of seeds to sow  What was the poison Paperflowers? they have different times for length of killing power. The packet will tell you what it contains. Paper flowers, lawn weedkiller can be persistent.Can you remove the top few inches of turf by PaperFlowers

Plastic bags for seedlings
Help.............I plan to sow my last summer perennials this week and all the advice says if you haven't got a propogator put the trays in sealed plastic bags..I can only find opaque blue sandwich/freezer bags that are large enough to hold some by Lucy3

or previous crop? Actually those are not "seed" leaves at all This is what I thought... Thanks, I'll get rid of them. That could hardly be potatoes from earlier sowings, because I didn't have the raised bed then. But it's true that it looks like it... I hope by nadiamaz

Making a woodland garden
these days and cannot remember the programme.     It is best to plant decent-sized plugs rather than sowing seed - if the area ia already established, there tends to be too much competition for seeds to thrive. Forgot to say that many woodland plants - e by woodlandgardener

then the cheapest method is to sow seed, but that takes longer than turfing. You could put down bark chips instead of grass on some of it to have as a base for a child's play area. Put down a weed supressant permeable membrane first and cover thickly with bark by adejones
