sowing times will apply. What are you sowing, seeds need differing heats and propagators usually have a standard cooler setting, a thermostat gives more scope. What exactly did the GC advise when selling you sand and grit and did you get the sowing compost by over60plus

Germination of some wildflowers
of days ago, they haven't had a chance yet. I sow my outdoor annuals when it's warm enough for me to be out there without freezing. I agree - I've not sown any wildflower seeds yet I've sowed some corncockles for the first time this year. Mine were sown by Outdoor girl

. Also the seeds should be fresh, past their sell by date doesn't work. Although my gardening book says sow from early spring I always wait until the weather warms up and you can get as fine a tilth as possible. Then sow outdoors and don't let them dry out while by bruce campbell

Germinating seeds
Rather than wait a bit and sow leek and beetroot seeds directly, I thought I'd experiment with planting them in modules in my non-heated greenhouse. Just over a week on, nothing's doing at all, which maybe isn't a huge surprise given the weather by Bf206

Veg to sow now
The 'what to do now' section of the site says we can now sow, amongst others, spinach, swiss chard, beetroot and spring onions. I have some seeds for these, but all the packs say to sow from March to July or August. Can anyone explain? Is this just by Kaitlin De Luca

Lupins from seed
ripen first.  Leave the flowering stalk on the plant until the pods turn brown, then cut them off and you can collect the seed by opening the pods.  You can sow them straight away if you have a coldframe to overwinter the young plants in, or save them by Caroline Bridges
