Has anyone found a white spider with a red stripe of both sides of it's body in there garden. we have looked what the spider is and it is a crab spider. by COATSWORTH

White spider on blackcurrant

Are there any other insects or spiders that jump on their prey in the same way? Reply to Mrs CullenJumping on prey is one of the best ways to catch food if you are a spider or insect. Pouncing can either be a sudden rush forwards, like these wolf by kathleen norman

Cotoneaster spiders
We have a cotoneaster which has been infested by little spiders. The webs seem to be causing the leaves to turn brown and die off - presuming the light can't get through as areas of the plant which don't have webs on are fine. So far I've been by BikeryDave

On Sunday I threw a vine weevil into a harvestman web. Thinking it would escape (following your blog from eons ago), I watched as the spider pounced and wrapped its prey in a thick silken cocoon. There was a slight struggle, then the weevil appeared by Kate Bradbury

I've never seen one of these spiders. Do you have any pictures of one? katskorner and dawn - click on the link in the first paragraph for a photo of Dysdera crocata. It's very pretty. I have a large spider in my greenhouse which has a black by katskorner

Lots of spiders....I think!
Last year I noticed during the end of 'Summer' about 40 what I think were spiders in my greenhouse...they were about an inch long, including legs, with a flat elongated diamond shaped body which is a greyish brown...odd colour...whilst out in my by The Manic Slughunter:)

Mildew/Red spider mite
The cucumber plants in my greenhouse were growing well but started to develop "powdery mildew" which I was told was due to the atmosphere being too moist.I tried to increase ventilation and water carefully.I now have mildew and red spider mite which by Jackers

Cucumber and Spider Mite, Still edible?
Hello All, This is the first year i have grown Cucumbers (in a container) and I have a plant now infested with spider mites. I have sprayed the affected leaves with dish-soap and water but was wondering if the cucumbers on the plant are still safe by Liz_noobe
