Tulips and Beans
Hi all, i have planted my spring bulbs (tulips) in a nice wooden container with some trellis running up the side of it. Just after my Tulips slowly emerged from under the soil, i realised that this would be the perfect spot for my bean plants by Andrew Martin

Planting around Apple Tree
you Lyon I wouldn't for the summer months when the tree needs water-but would grow spring flowering bulbs to come up from now onwards-these take little from the soil and die back by June. Yes Geoff did consider bulbs, thanks sotongeoff wrote (see by Brumbull

Wildflower bulb planting.
be ok. It tends to die away after flowering and rweturns the following Spring. All the rest will eventually spread either by seed or by splitting but that will take at least a couple of years for the clumps to build up enough for you to split them up by natureboy838

Garlic - progress report
So, my youngest took a dislike to one of my garlic plants today... since he pretty much broke the stem off (and I've got plenty) I thought I might just dig it up and see what's doing. It basically looks just like a spring onion, with a purplish end by Bf206

Can I save my spring/summer bulbs
Hi All! Like many others I stored spring and summer bulbs in a container in the garden and they've nearly all bolted including tulip, hyacinths, fritillaria rubra - I got them out yesterday to start planting and although they smell pretty bad by Liz Douglas

Daffodils suitable for heavy soil
previous.  I had a lot that came up blind or too early so the flowers were damaged. All the bulbs are still in the ground so I'm hopeful to have a better show for the Spring. Interesting advice kate- I begrudge spending too much money on the garden but £2 by Sarah M

Tulipa 'Spring Green'
I saw this in Parker's bulb catalogue and amongst other bulbs thought I would have to try it (bulb catalogue is abit like being in a sweet shop!). It's in flower now but I am disappointed to see that there is a pink flush to the white parts by AliP
