bulbs throughout the seasons
when the bulbs come up? If you do not let them die back naturally they will not last more than a few years. The correct time for mowing a wild plant meadow is some time after July, not Spring, when the flowers have mostly set seed.  You must then remove by Jess is in the Garden

Can I keep iris bulbs until the spring or should I plant them now?
My aunt has given me a lot of iris bulbs but it's a bit late for potting now (read somewhere that planting time is Aug/Sept.  Is it ok to keep these in a cool dark place (was thinking of the garden shed, wrapped in a paper bag) until the spring by emmarose

Potted Lilly Companions Please
for longer, giving a longer season of interest, that the Lillies will then grow through? You might be able to grow spring bulbs, or other small Spring-flowering plants. I haven't actually tried that myself.I have tried growing climbers up the stems of tall by Adam Young

Too late to plant Tulip/Daff bulbs?
into January so go for it! I have found bulbs that have been overlooked in the past.  Plant them - now!  They will flower, albeit a bit later than it says on the packet.  But they should perform for the spring season - but will wither if you keep them unplanted by LeadFarmer

alliums
appear as soon as any snow cover is gone and they grow rapidly to take advantage of the short Spring/Summer weather. then as the temperatures drop, the flower spike appears and as the leaves have done their job they begin to take food back into the bulb by naomi4

Daffodils
drifts of spring flowers that we see in hedgerows etc get to be there in the first place. I usually dead head all the daffs but might leave a few and collect some seeds this year. What a lovely surprise Judith! I noticed today that there were some bulbs by Judith 5
