feeding the ground??
of these on now i think and some in spring?? Not really-any feed apply now will wash through into the soil with the winter rains and be ineffective. Winter time is the time to dig in organic matter -manure compost and the like-you apply feed at planting time by pico

Onion help.
Hi there. This is a really silly question, but my onion and spring onion seedlings seem to have stopped growing. I have re potted them from a seed tray into bigger pots in the hope that this spurs them on.  Has anyone else had this?  Thank Amy   I by Amy Smith

Onions and garlic
I have a few autumn planting shallots, onions and garlic sets that I did not get round to planting. Will they grow just as well if I plant them as Spring sets? Does anyone know if they are different varieties? Any help would be appreciated. Richard by rmenmuir@btinternet.

Talkback: Cleaning out bird boxes
Cleaned out our 2 boxes just now. Revealed the tragedy of the sodden Spring and early Summer. The remains of a Blue Tit brood in one and the remains of a Great Tit brood in the other. Not enough caterpillars to keep them alive - the different stages by smflyman

Clearing a large area of Ground Elder
great wildlife habitat. Kate Yes, I know, that's true! Maybe 'wild' was the wrong term. We want rough grass we'd cut just twice a year, with spring bulbs and early summer self seeding flowers which would make an area which can be used for the children by Rose7
