to take an enormous root ball to keep its survival chances as good as possible. Once re-planted, you will need to stake the tree with a long stake, about six foot tall, to keep it still whilst it's re-establishing; you will also need to water by shazza3

I find hazel stakes great and unobtrusive and cheap as I cut them from my freebie nut trees brought by the squirrels. Once I made the mistake of using hardy fuchsia and cornus stakes and they all rooted! We have had some longed for rain and a by The Bumblebee

i took the advice of a fellow allotment holder (of some 92 years) and drove in some 6 foot stakes, fence wired between them and now i can pick from both sides with ease and haven't had any more downfalls - from the prevailing coastal winds which we by Ross McCormick

Unhappy Magnolia Grandiflora: frost damage?
't like early morning sun and should really be staked throughout their life.  In other words, they're a bit fussy! Ah. That is of course bad. How old might it be? Should I attempt to move it? If you have a more sheltered spot, say somewhere in a sunny corner by Hogroast2

You must have read my mind. This is the first year I have grown roses and was just wondering should I stake them and also how to take a cutting. I don't know a great deal about roses having concentrated mostly on veg - just dabbled with flowers by June

Sweet peas and potted bulbs

The free tomato seeds on the mag cover
them in pots but can't decide whether to stake them, pinch them out or let them hang! Hi Sandra, I thought exactly the same thing, so I looked back at the mag and it says they're trailing 'ideal for pots'. I planted mine into a window box in the hope by Sandra 2

. Prepare the area by digging out a hole twice the size of its pot and mix the soil with some good compost, plant at the height it was and, if it's large, give it a stake until it's had the chance to put down its roots. by cazza102carol
