Talkback: My five favourite dahlias
blousy Dahlia's that need staking, I have tried to, but I think these should only be grown on allotments by grumpy old men in cloth caps(Ha Ha). You have to be a dedicated gardener to grow Dahlia's and be prepared to dig them up every winter after by Gardenbabe

Edging for bed
if you have a drill) to stakes (preferably oak). Stakes 2" square by 18" or two feet long depending on your soil and slope. Your lengths of wood can be simply standard fencing rails, 87mm x 37mm, which you can get in 3.6m lengths from your local woodyard by bunnysgarden

vine weed
scrap of root that is left. Put canes next to the growths and train the weed up it. Once it is several feet tall, carefully remove the stake and put the growth in a bin bag, and spray it thoroughly with a glyphosphate-based weedkiller and leave it to die by tommysmith

WHITE LEAVES
or be warm. thanks again for your help Mizz I'm not sure that I would put them under a cloche now.  Although the temperatures have been pretty low, the wind will strengthen the roots if they aren't staked and the rain will do them good.  They will be checked by Mizz
