newq growth this year will bear fruit next year. I cut mine back to the size I want it, So I take about half of mine off. taking out any crossin branches and cutting out the one growing into the middle, the reason for this is air flow and to let by Dolphin_in_the_deep

How & when erisimum & scabious cuttings?
I'm not very experienced wtih cuttings, could anyone tell me when & describe how to take them from erisimum bowles mauve & scabious butterfly blue? They're both meant to be hardy but I don't want to take any chances & would like more of them by Lokelani

of the plant be affected? When is the best time of year to do this? I have read various articles about taking cuttings, but they normally refer to a plant that has become bare lower down and is past its best, and therefore the talk is of dumping the tree by nightingalebrook

hi everyone very new to gardening, iam taking cuttings from dahlias that have been producing new growth in a propagator, the cutting are about 3 to 4 inches cut low down to the tuber, i have put them in a mix of grit,multipurpose and perlite, i have by kimrosefreak

but with no sucess. any help would be great. Thanks Heal cuttings usually take quite well. layering is also a good method of propagation for Jasmine, if you find any low shoots touching the soil you may find some of them have already started to root. by rumpleteazer

cutting new turfed lawn
I've just laid a lawn with turf (late September) and let it settle for a few days with plenty of rain but some websites suggest I cut the lawn lightly now after such a short time. Is this a good idea? The grass is about 3/4 cms high so could take by graham sims
