, several stems which start a bit woody (albeit very thin) and go on to new green growth and are well leaved, none are begining to flower. Should I prune them back at the time of planting out (as stated last night) or wait till after this years flowering by Lesleyjm

spindly cosmos seedlings
little sturdy plants, but the cosmos have shot up (about 2 1/2 to 3 inches tall) to become thin and leggy, and although they each now have 2 pairs of leaves they are bending over and can't stand up under their own weight. They can't cope with a fine by Viola111

grasses
A light feed via a thin mulch of compost in spring helps but it depends on the grass. Imperata, deschampsia, miscanthus and hakonechloa seem to benefit from thicker mulch and feed. Nothing though on stipas. by carolyn gray

Does anyone know the name of this plant?
Was interrupted by trying to upload photo and failing.  Sorry.  This plant is very like a dandelion but taller with thin grass-like leaves emanating from its stem.  The flower is like a "neat" dandelion and the seedhead is just beautiful.  Huge by fiona10

Help
has to be thinned every year but they are so beautiful, if prickly.  I think Emma is right.  Mine went in poor soil, but you would not think so when you see the lush leaves every year.  They selfseed wholesale after a while so you may soon be giving by Mark1966

pruning trees & shrubs
I live in central scotland and have a lovely cherry tree in my front garden which has become a bit top heavy with lots of wispy brittle branches plus one or two larger ones which need cut back and thinned out.   Could I do it now or wait until after by tarttartan

Thicken up a lawn
needed to be given a feed to green it up a bit. I have fed since and its looking quite green and lush from a distance. Close up its a bit thin and patchy. Would putting some seed on help or will it eventually thicken its self ? . Any tips or advice by mike2li

Welly boots
'll be easier to get some sandpaper and make your feet a bit smaller  I had a feeling that this would not be good news Get some more.  I have 3 pairs - one sized for bare feet or thin summer socks, one for one pair of thick socks and one for 2 pairs.   Great by joslow
