Xhose - Expandable hose - any good?
Hi everyone, Has anyone had the fortune or not to try the apparently amazing expandable Xhose from the US?  I feel a bit disillusioned with the hoses and casings I see at garden centres/on-line, they seem so thin and I can see that they will kink by Potting Fairy

Transplanting seedlings
Have planted flower seeds, the tray is now covered with seedlings, how do I transplant.  Do I pull them up, use tweezers or what?  Or should I just thin them out and leave them a bit longer in same tray?  Also planted sweet pea seeds that seem by Aileen Hutton

I received my lavender 'plants' from the June issue of 'Gardeners' World' only at the end of July. Great offer but had no idea they would be so tiny - 36 5cm seedlings packed in tiny root containers and a thin, transparent case for posting. It says by keennovicecam

lawn
Could someone please advise me on how to treat a 30-year old, seriously compacted lawn (on a thin layer of soil). There is a lot of worm activity at the moment, which presumably is helping to aerate the soil. The overall condition, though, is so bad by hortensia4

Talkback: Asparagus beetles
as I know. I have five to six year old aparagus plants which are sending up spagetti thin fronds of new growth all over the bed. Yesterday I picked off about 100 apsparagus beetles. Today there are just as many new beetles. Should I cut these thin new by bunnysgarden
