on the M6 services. He also said that last year was a bad year for tomatoes as there simply was not enough light. Toms also do better in the ground not grow bags.(disagree?). I too had a bad year, not enough green toms for my chutney recipe. Also got blight by Anonymous

. If you don't want to spray - try the Sarpo types of potatoes that have some resistance. BUt if you plant earlies you can avoid the main period when blight attacks. Grow your tomatoes in the greenhouse too or just risk it as I did last year. I must agree by Pippa Greenwood

/hse.. It has been a bad year-blight seems to have affected a lot of tomato crops by the look of the discussions on here-today I removed mine from the greenhouse all affected rotten stems etc It also happens to the great and the good-go towards the end of here by jean linsley

gardeners delight. I grew it for the first time outside last year and got lovely sweet tomatoes in abundance. no blight or any other problems but did use tomato-planters and tomato growbags so maybe this helped? last tomatoes picked in november for green by Helen

What doe Hybrid F1 mean on a seed packet
that they don't come true to the original seed?  Is this the case? Sam F1 seeds are a result of a crossbreeding of two different parents to get a more resilient plant-quite common in tomatoes-the reason they are dearer is because a lot of this is done by hand so by Sam Glendinning

Best tasting cherry tomatoes
I usually grow gardeners delight tomatoes but are these the best tasting? And I grow Shirley for my normal crop. If you could grow just two varieties, one cherry type and one "normal" , what would you choose? For cherry types I dont think you can by Verdun
