don't you just love Tulips, amazing how there is an awful desease waiting to attack everything on the planet, if it's not one virus it's another but we keep on trying, because we think they are wondeful. by kaycurtis

problem daffodils?
damage.  Some of mine came up looking like a concertina, as if they had to struggle out of the ground - definitly cold damage - maybe this is too?  I know of tulip virus but have not come across one that attacks daffodils as well, tho' I guess by Aliesh

Potting compost error
in manure... Thanks. Will sort it this weekend. Tulips, ESP the modern ones, do seem susceptible to virus, etc. but I think the best way is to plant for one year and then discard them or dig them up and store. The old varieties, usually the yellow and red by Supernoodle

OLD MAN TULIPS
Hi, never been a great fan of tulips, but colour was needed as the daffs began to fade, so, i bit the bullet and 36 bulbs found a new home, planted in november 6in deep with a little compost and well watered in i thought see you in the spring.  Well by pash

Poppy help please.
of a problem as it is very attractive but I suspect this could be a virus. However my main problem is that something is severing the heads from the stem. In some cases the stems are peeled back and a black residue is left. This has happened overnight by BJ

the flowers to lift my mood, tulips have been wonderful, but vine weeval have been rampant so have purchased nematoads to deal with them so what ever you have in pots keep an eye for these evil beetles and their grubs. I'm hoping someone can give me some by chutneyhunter

What has happened???
's a good couple of weeks ahead of hers, i.e. most of my daffs are out, snowdrops over, tulip buds showing colour. But I possibly have the advantage of the microclimate of a walled garden, with its granite storage heaters! Lucky you Fig, I would love a by Sam Glendinning
