growing asparagus in containers
Is it possible to grow them in containers? Thinking of giving a veg loving friend one but he has lost his border due to the landlord building a bike rack on the site. You can - there's even this YouTube video telling you how: http by Swedboy

Used Compost?
Whats the best thing to do with used compost from pots and seed trays? Compost it, throw it onto the garden, re-use it to fill the bottom of large containers/pots and top the rest with fresh, bottom of hanging baskets. Just a few ideas - I'm sure by tom hewer

Saint or sinner?.....don't like annuals
.  Apart from veg, nearly everything in my garden is a perennial with the majority grown from seed (which can be a bit challenging, but I like that aspect!)  I do grow a few annuals, but mostly for fragrance and to plant-up a few containers and baskets by Verdun

Gardening book
Expert", which are cheap, reliable and easy to use. I even have a spare copy of the fruit and veg one, which I keep in the shed.  I also like the Readers' Digest "Food From Your Garden" which includes sections on preparing and preserving fruit and veg by Jo Stephenson

What veg and salad can be grown in clay-flint-chalk soil?
works...well all you will be doing is copying that form of gardening to the open ground. Keep root veg off  recently manured ground as they don't do well on it. Try to get them about third in line of your crop rotation so that most of the manure is used by Bob Flowerjuice
