Starting from scratch
work.  Clumps of rushes and horsetail both front and back. Hello Warthog, In my veg plot I have had to remove rubble, black polythene and many perennial weeds. The previous occupiers tended to lay new soil over the weeds and plant on top by Warthog

Talkback: Purple sprouting broccoli
my purple sprouting for the past week, its my first year on the plot. Have had cabbage and now sprouting not had any probs with any aphids or slugs. Had a prob with pigeons earlier but netting solved that. Looking forward to lots more veg & fruit. Can by Christine

grew some mixed lettuce last autumn in my veg plot and it is still doing well. whenever i need some lettuce i just pick what i need. It is fresh and it tastes lovely. I'm just getting started with growing fruit and veg for the first time, are there any by gardeningeek

Broad Beans
I have started of some broad beans in my propagator and they are now in pots on my window sill as they are growing rather quick. When can i plant them outside please. Hello Paslode, Broad beans are pretty hardy. I've got some on my veg plot by paslode

Welly boots
eventualities for this summer I should think!!!??... Higgy http://higgysgardenproject.blogspot.co.uk/ OH has the waders for cleaning the pond of rampant flag iris and blanket weed when it comes.   My veg plot is raised beds and paths so I do wear flip flops by joslow

Winter pruning
The time has come for us to prune our apples and pears, late-flowering clematis, gooseberries etc. It's a very satisfying job if you have a sharp saw and warm clothing. I've been having a go at some neglected apple trees on my veg plot and wondering by Emma Crawforth

Digging a vegetable Plot
garden last year. The veg plot had not been used for 10 years. All the clay subsoil that had been dug out while landscaping for a conservatory had been dumped on top. I initially sprayed the lot with glyphosate to get rid of the perennial docks, bindweed by Jayn
