walked also over the area - what is the best way to deal with this earth so that I can look forward to growing vegetables there soon? I cannot afford a great expense. You can put crab apples in your compost but it would be better to let the birds eat by meg.hopkins@yah

but no children to make funny characters out of them, unless you count my husband, of course ;-) I started last year with a vegetable plot at the back of our garden. I planted potatoes, carrots; I still dug some up in January and they were still good to eat by joseph woosey

Spinach for winter harvest

Vine Weevil
We have these  pesky things in our Strawberry troughs and were wondering if we could put some carrots, parsnips or leeks in there instead as none of the info we have found mentions them eating vegetables.  Please does anyone know?  Hi Tracey, vine by Tracey Curnock

veg suggestion please!!
Please! Please! Can someone suggest a vegetable that I could plant in a sheltered sunny position, that the slugs will not eat! I am totally fed up with them after they devoured all my tomato and courgette plants, that I thought were suitably mature by artychris

Cucumbers
