glorious sun. Could anyone please tell me if i've done something wrong, and if i would be able to breathe some life back into them, many thanks.   Have you checked in the pots for vine weevil grubs? Thymes actually like constant hot sun, so that certainly by peter gumm

Azalea wilting and going brown - help!
-weedkiller of any sort-the only other thing it might be is vine weevil grub attack -tip out of the pot and look for white grubs But I'm afraid there is not much hope-I don't think taking the middle out of it would have killed it by Glitzy

They need vine weevil treatment...Provado or nematodes. Don't use both. It's either or. Viine weevils are number one enemy.They need splitting every couple of years and deep planting.I remove all leaves in late winter and clean up the crowns then feed by scotkat

Drooping Cucumber Plants
is certainly worth trying, though I wonder if you have vine weevil grubs eating the roots. They're c- shaped White grubs with brown heads. If feasible, it might be worth taking the plant out ( being very careful not to damage the crown) and having a look by Matthew Rowe

wanted!   Err...can you describe the larvae? I'm just a bit concerned with your comment of little root growth, they might be vine weevil larvae. Yes, I too would be more concerned about the larvae than the smallness of the saplings - can you as Klink by Klink
