Can I save them?
. Check the roots are intact and check for vine weevil grubs - if everything is ok. Re-pot into a bigger pot with good quality fresh compost and feed after 6 - 8 weeks. Bays are very tough and can spring back to life.  Thanks marshmello.  I will do by Daisyheadcase

What is this insect?
anybody identify this, and if it will be a problem to any specific plants? If so, can this issue be solved in any way? Many thanks.   Looks like the larva of one of the ground beetles. The vine weevil larvae lack the legs. The beetle larvae often get by phoenixsilverbird

wilting and dying bedding plants
will sever the stems,of some plants and there are other soil pests but snails are the likely culprits   Could it be vine weevil grubs having a munch on the roots?  I've had this sort of effect with heucheras & saxifrages, although not bedding plants (yet.....!!) by bert cutsforth

My snapdragons aren't very well !!!
dead sticks !! I would suggest the drastic action of pulling one out and looking at its roots, do you suffer from vine weevils? Not that I know of Kate, but I will do as you suggest and see if I can see anything.thank you Could it be too much rain? We by Caroline Bridges

if anything last year so had forgotten all about them. Will look forward to seeing the flowers, I'm assuming that over time they will spread Watch out for vine weevils - you'll see great mouthfuls eaten out of the edge of the leaves - it happened to mine last by hollie hock

and warm and all my other (5 differnt) Acers are fine. Any ideas what is wrong or what I can/should do, please? Have you checked in its root ball for signs of vine weevil?  Curly maggoty things that eat the roots and gradually kill the plant. If you have by Jan Clark

ago . THANK YOU FOR THE REPLIES AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL YOU FUN LOVING GARDNERS OUT THERE. Viburnam beetle and larvae shreds the leaves like Snails do. If it is wedges cut out of the sides of the leaves then it may be Vine Weevil. I tried various by KORKY 5463

On Sunday I threw a vine weevil into a harvestman web. Thinking it would escape (following your blog from eons ago), I watched as the spider pounced and wrapped its prey in a thick silken cocoon. There was a slight struggle, then the weevil appeared by Kate Bradbury
